Macquarie recommended for International Communication… and good coffee!

“It didn’t take a lot to convince me that studying in Sydney would be a good idea,” says British student Charlotte Green. “It’s very beautiful and has what every good cosmopolitan city has – something for everyone… plus beaches!”

Australia is forward-thinking, relaxed, and friendly,” says British Masters student Charlotte Green

Charlotte came to Macquarie to study a Master of Arts in International Communication, knowing the reputation of Macquarie’s innovative program.

“Australians don’t share the UK mentality that ‘older is better’,” Charlotte notes. “The readings in my class are very contemporary – it feels great to be able to celebrate modernity and look forward, rather than looking back.”

“I smile every time I see the Harbour Bridge,” says Charlotte, pictured with a Sydney Harbour ferry namesake.

“My class is about 90 per cent international students and it’s a real privilege to discuss topics with people born in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America,” she says.

And it is not just the students who have impressed Charlotte.

“One of my lecturers had worked as a diplomat for over 20 years,” she notes. “He’d lived in so many countries, he was able to either speak the language or say something culturally specific to any of the international students who walked into the classroom.”

“This kind of learning environment is as important as the class content and I know it will help me in my chosen career.”

And the highlight for Charlotte outside the classroom? The fantastic coffee found at Macquarie’s numerous cafes and coffee outlets.

“I love the coffee culture,” she exclaims. ”Being home now, I already have withdrawal symptoms from my morning skimmed flat white!”
