Norwegian excels in Early Childhood

“Without doubt, the highlight of my time at Macquarie has been completing my honours thesis and receiving 1st class honours as a result of my hard work. It surely made all the sleepless nights worth it!”

“Macquarie’s focus on research is a definite pro, as I believe strongly in the need to prioritise research in order to better understand the world and those who live in it,” says Leyla. (Photo: Effy Alexakis Photowrite)

Leyla Eide, at the tail-end of her Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) (Honours) degree, credits Macquarie’s ‘inspiring’ teaching staff for much of her success.

“My lecturers and tutors share willingly from their pool of knowledge and continuously challenge their students to extend their thinking and question the things they are taught,” she says.

“It has always been my dream to live in Australia,” says Early Childhood student Leyla Eide. “I love the climate and the laid-back lifestyle.”-

“They have been supportive and generally go beyond what is to be expected in order to make sure their students receive the support and feedback they need and do not fall behind.”

The small class sizes and flexibility of programs in the Institute of Early Childhood have also impressed Leyla.

“Small classes allow for everyone’s voice to be heard and for no one to get lost along the way,” she says.

And there are so many courses to choose from, you can select units that closely match your personal interests and passions.”

The quality of Leyla’s learning experience at Macquarie has validated her decision to study at the University.

“I have always wanted to live in Australia, so for me it had to be a university somewhere in this country,” she recalls. “In the end I chose Macquarie because it is world-renowned for the high quality of its early childhood education degree.”

With increasing demand for early childhood educators worldwide, Leyla says her degree will open doors for her wherever she chooses to go.

“Because Macquarie’s Early Childhood degrees are internationally recognised, I’ll be advantaged when applying for work, whether it be in Australia, my home country or anywhere in the world,” she says.
