Macquarie University’s Faculty of Business and Economics has announced an Australian first, with accreditation by the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) for its Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) degree.
The course has now been quality assured by an independent industry body and graduates will be encouraged to become professional members of the Australian Marketing Institute.
Senior Lecturer Dr Steven D’Allessandro says the accreditation will bring benefits to both Macquarie students and industry employers.
“Our students can have confidence they are receiving an industry-relevant degree,” he notes. “They’ll also be able to increase their networking opportunities and professional development within the marketing industry.”
He adds that the accreditation will also make Macquarie marketing graduates more attractive to employers.
“When hiring a Macquarie University graduate, employers will be assured that they have hired someone who is career-ready and has received an education with industry recognition.”
In order to gain accreditation by the AMI, Macquarie University’s marketing program was reviewed by an accreditation team who assessed the programs objectives and met with academics, administrators and students to confirm the quality of the degree.
AMI CEO Mark Crowe says the accreditation represents a step into the future for Australian business, as well as for Macquarie University
“We’re delighted that the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University has gained the distinction of being first to market in what is a major milestone for the marketing profession.”
