“Without Macquarie, and previous professional experience, I would not have been able to succeed in this professional environment,” says Swiss Macquarie graduate Felipe Koller.
As a risk assurance supervisor for advisory giant PricewaterhouseCoopers, Felipe is part of a global network of 169,000 people in 158 countries, all sharing their thinking, experience and solutions.
The IT and business processes specialist is currently on a long-term assignment in PwC’s São Paulo Brazil office. Luckily, his time at Macquarie has prepared him well for this immersion into a new culture.
“The enormous variety of students and faculty at Macquarie, coming from all parts of the world, was the best preparation for my career,” Felipe says.
“Working together with peers from different cultural backgrounds and learning from professors with different methodologies and approaches to teaching helped me be culturally sensitive when interacting with colleagues and clients from all over the world, as well as making me a better negotiator and team player.
Cultural diversity was just one of the reasons Felipe chose to undertake a Master of International Business at Macquarie, alongside the reputation of the University’s business programs and it’s location in an English speaking country that he had never been to before.
“The demanding curriculum of the Master of International Business program was very convincing,” he recalls. “Sydney as a city, with its high quality of life did the rest.”
And the highlight of his time at Macquarie?
“It’s difficult to choose only one highlight,” he says. “Aside from the long-term friendships, my personal highlights were the intense group assignments, the social events and the catching the ferry to Manly for partner-university courses at the International College of Management Sydney.”
