Estonian Christina Birnbaum has spent the last 3.5 years in the company of some very determined, but not always welcome, species of plants.

Nearing completion of her PhD in plant ecology, Christina is looking at how soil bacteria and fungi affect on the spread of plants, and why some plants don’t tend to become invasive at all.

Macquarie researcher presents at International Bird Symposium

Yuna Kim, a PhD student in Macquarie’s Graduate School of the Environment, recently joined international researchers at the fifth International Symposium on Migratory Birds, held on the island of Jeungdo in South Korea.

"Since their breeding site has been rehabilitated, the population of the Gould’s petrel has increased," says Macquarie researcher Yuna Kim.
